The GEOMAGIA50 database project was initiated at the 5th Nordic Paleomagnetic Workshop, held in Siuntio, Finland, 25 to 30 September 2004. The workshop was organized by Satu Mertanen and Lauri J. Pesonen, and was funded by the Academy of Finland.
Nowadays the GEOMAGIA50 is hosted at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The update and maintenance of GEOMAGIA50 is sponsored by the NSF.
